The Government of Spain condemns massacre in Beni, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Spain strongly condemns the massacre early on Sunday morning close to the city of Beni, in North Kivu province, to the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing several dozen innocent civilians. According to reports, the attack was carried out by the Ugandan rebel group, Allied Defense Forces (ADF).

The Government of Spain expresses its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims as well as its support for the people and authorities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

It also reiterates its support for the work of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) and requests it be granted every aid possible to effectively carry out its difficult mission.
