The Government of Spain urges the House of Representatives to meet as soon as possible and to approve the proposed government. The serious problems that the new government must urgently tackle, particularly in terms of the fight against DAESH terrorism and humanitarian needs, requires that the government is formed as soon as possible and, if possible, is located in the city of Tripoli.

Spain will support the work of this government from the very outset, in line with the provisions established in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2259 (2015).

Spain continues to offer its full backing for the mediation work of the United Nations. The crisis ravaging Libya can only be resolved through the path of negotiation and political transition in which all the political players have been invited to take part. The international community, with the active presence of Spain in its role as a member of the Security Council, is full legitimated to act decisively against those who seek to sabotage this process.
