Government of Spain condemns destruction of historic heritage in Syria

This brutal act constitutes yet another example of the barbarism of DAESH in its attempt to erase the imprint that various civilisations have left behind as their legacy over the course of the history of Syria and, in particular, of this ancient city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Spain reiterates its support for the people of Syria, and its conviction that only a political solution based on a process of transition and national reconciliation in the terms of the 2012 Geneva Declaration can allow this conflict, that has already caused numerous deaths and material damage, to be brought to an end.
