Government welcomes appointment of new Special Envoy to Secretary General of the UN to Yemen

The Spanish Government welcomes the appointment of Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed as the new Special Envoy to the Secretary General of the UN to Yemen, and conveys all its support and desire for success in the important work he has been tasked with to help contribute to re-establishing peace and stability in Yemen, through inclusive dialogue that leads to an understanding between the different groups in the country, that can serve as a basis for a prosperous and united country.

The government likewise takes the opportunity to thank his predecessor, Jamal Benomar, for the efforts made during the course of his mandate.
