Spain wishes to convey its condolences to the families of the victims and to the Nigerian authorities in light of these murders and destruction of incalculable cruelty.
Spain warns of the serious deterioration of the situation in north-east Nigeria as a result of the growing terrorist activity of Boko Haram and points to the serious humanitarian and security consequences of these actions for Nigeria and for its neighbouring countries of Cameroon, Niger and Chad.
The Government of Spain reiterates the need for the Nigerian authorities and those of other countries in the region, also affected by Boko Haram, to closely cooperate in the fight against this blight and calls on the international community as a whole not to lower its guard and to step up counter-terrorist cooperation.
