Government congratulates new International Criminal Court judges on their appointment

The Government of Spain congratulates the six candidates elected by the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute as new judges of the Internal Criminal Court, and wishes them every success in the important task and responsibility entrusted to them in the fight against the commission of crimes against humanity, genocide and war crimes.

Spain, which has been party to the Rome Statute since its entry into force in 2002, reiterates its total commitment to the work being undertaken by the International Criminal Court to help prevent these atrocious crimes going unpunished and to thus contribute to the effective universalization of human rights.
