Government of Spain welcomes signing of formal end of hostilities between Government of Mozambique and Renamo

The Spanish Government congratulates President Armando Guebuza for the steps taken with Afonso Dhlakama, leader of Renamo, in reaching an agreement that, if the terms established are complied with, will be a fundamental factor in consolidating the national reconciliation process and moving forward with efforts aimed at the comprehensive development of the country by joining together all the political and social persuasions into government.

As an ally of Mozambique since its independence, Spain will continue to support all initiatives aimed at a consensus that guarantees peace, democracy and the development of the country.
