Law degree from the University of Seville (1974-1979). Member of the legal profession. Associate professor in civil law at University of Seville.

  • Senior Judge at Seville Courthouse. Member of the Government Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Andalusia and of its Committee.
  • Director-General of Relations with the Administration of Justice of the Ministry of Justice (1996-2000)
  • Government Representative in Castile-La Mancha (2000-2002)
  • Government Representative in Andalusia (2002-2004)
  • General Secretary of People's Party in Andalusia (2004-2006)
  • Councillor and Spokesperson for the People's Party Group in Seville City Council (2007-2011)
  • Regional MP under the 8th Legislature in the Regional Parliament of Andalusia (2008-2014)
  • Mayor of Seville (2011-2015)
  • President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (Spanish acronym: FEMP) (2011-2012)
  • President of the People's Party in Andalusia (2012-2014)
  • MP for Seville in the Lower House of Parliament since 2016
