Those attending the lunch reaffirmed their commitment to the reforms and the creation of jobs, and agreed that the financial crisis is global in nature and that the solutions must therefore also be reached globally. They defended a standpoint that claims the exit from the current situation must be linked to growth and job creation, and called on the G-20 leaders to defend recent progress in terms of public health, welfare and education, especially within the context of the current economic crisis.

José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero held a meeting at Moncloa Palace beforehand with Victor Ponta, the President of the Rumanian Social Democratic Party, who is also attending the Global Progress Conference and attended the subsequent lunch.
