José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Naoto Kan analysed the international economic situation and that of the Eurozone following the European Council meeting held on Friday. The two men welcomed the efforts being made by Europe to tackle the economic crisis by adopting the necessary measures within the single currency framework.
José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero shares the interest expressed by Naoto Kan on new Japanese companies being set up in Spain, as well as the capability of Spanish companies to work in Japan in such fields as renewable, wind and photovoltaic energies.
They also discussed support for trade relations and tourism, the organisation of the Year of Spain in Japan during the second half of 2013 and first half of 2014, and the possibility for progress on bilateral scientific relations.
The last meeting between José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Naoto Kan took place in Tokyo on 1 September 2010 on the occasion of the official visit by the President of the Government to Japan.
