Due to the increased repression of the civilian population in Syria over recent days, which was already the subject of public condemnation on 4 February, the Government of Spain has decided to recall its Ambassador in Damascus for consultation.
Furthermore, the Syrian Ambassador will be summoned to an urgent meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in order to personally convey the condemnation of the actions being taken by the armed forces and security forces of Syria.
