The Government of Spain strongly condemns the offensive launched on Friday by the Syrian Government on the city of Homs, which may have resulted in more than 300 fatalities with thousands more injured, according to various sources.

In light of the unbearable levels of repression imposed by the Syrian regime, the international community must demand the protection of the Civilian population. To that end, the Spanish Government trusts that the United Nations Security Council will approve without further ado a resolution based on prior decisions adopted by the Arab League.
